Latest gadget craze....Home Theatre System!

Finally the home theater system (HTS) bug has got to me!

I have always wanted a good surround sound system with decent audio/video capabilities within a limited budget but always kept postponing the decision. Something or the other kept being prioritized.

However one Sunday morning while discussing it with my wife we both agreed to it. Then began the relentless research and reviews followed by friends/family recommendations. While going through all the reviews, I finally concluded that the best available option for me would be the Denon AVR-X2200 which fulfilled all my requirements. It was 4K capable, with HDCP2.2 and HDMI 2.0 compatible and also had the latest Dolby ATMOS and DTS-X capabilities (albeit after an awaited update). Then came the difficult decision of choosing the right speakers that would ideally be not too big for my sitting room (now designated Media Room). I also wanted the speakers to be good looking but not too intrusive and a pair of ATMOS speakers that I didn't have to ceiling mount. Tested the Monitor Audio MASS 5.1 setup at my local AV store and immediately fell in love with it. Read the online reviews from a variety of websites and they were all pretty good. So finally placed the order for the entire kit from  http://exceptional-av.co.uk and had a great experience dealing with the Customer Services Representative as I got a good deal from him.

Bit of background information... I was using a Sony HTS-800 as my Surround sound source before I upgraded, this meant that I also needed to get some sort of Media Cabinet to house my A/V Amp, Sky HD box, PS4, Xbox 360, Apple TV, Router + Accessories. Again after doing a lot of online research concluded that an Ikea cabinet would be my designated AV Cabinet.

The updated Media AV Cabinet - which is a modified Ikea (Besta Range) - now includes - Denon AVR-X2200, Sky Q 2TB (4K), Nvidia Shield 16GB, Xbox One S and PS4. All are connected to the internet using Apple AC Router giving it a stable internet connection with download speeds upwards of 140mpbs.

The TV was upgraded to a Samsung JS8000 in Feb 2016 featuring the Quantom Dot Technology enabling excellent detailed blacks and vivid colours. It is a 4K screen which is HDR10 capable enabling me to watch all the new 4k HDR releases via the Xbox One S.

The speakers that I am using are the Monitor Audio Mass 5.1 with Onkyo up-firing ATMOS speakers. The setup has been configured using the Audyssey Software built in to the Denon Amp and in my opinion is really effective.
